business card design revamp by mechanicalmasochist business card design revamp by mechanicalmasochist
LEFT/ my first design drawn with a mouse and without any reference
RIGHT/ my design redrawn with my tablet using references and looking up information on texture and anatomy.

I feel it is an improvement ^^;

the size for this is tiny so I do feel the less blurred image of the second one works better for this since it is sharper.

plus it has to show off what we can do and I feel the first one was a poor example of my skills

both pictures are good. at first i only liked the first one but after looking at them enough, i got rather sick of the first and loved the bright crispness of your updated image :) i think your new one is better to show your skills to your clients

The second one needs some outlining on the feathers, it looks a bit...boring, I guess. (Idontknowhowtosayitbluhhhh)
Personally I like the first one better. But the fire on the newest one is awesome!

Well I think the first one looks too tacky, I have to remember that this will be shown to people expecting high quality work of which the first is not such a good example and I can't garentee they will like my style.

also small details are properly pointless as when printed this will be tony and most detail will be lost

but on top of that I find it difficult to get accurate definition on pale coloured birds like this: [link]

I see what you mean. Perhaps on the card you could show two different styles, so people could see what you can do?

It is hard to get deeper colors onto a very vivd bird... I dunno. I think you could make the lighting more dramatic.

I like how the former is facing, and I love the detail with the latter. Other than that I have been blown away...God I love your art-ness.

I like the first one, because it shows off more of your style, but I like the second one because it shows what you are capable of. ^^ I think either of them would look awesome though. ^^
