the black bird is a part of me by mechanicalmasochist the black bird is a part of me by mechanicalmasochist
song: [link]
well m new years resolution is to get better at drawing humans and theres no time like the present- besides I wanted practice before inking the picture I asked for redline on (thank you for all your help guys)

after hearing this song I just had to draw Adam/'bug' from wes craven's film 'my soul to take' the symbolism works so well with the film as crows,vultures and condors play important symbolism in it

I love that film , I can relate sooo much to bug its not even funny, you know apart from the whole seven souls, serial killer daddy thing.

if you havent seen this film I reccomend it, it is one of my favourites wes craven knows how to make a film!

my soul to take(c)wes craven

This movie was apparently horrible to critics...

...That must mean it's great.

I might watch it.

critics also put games like call of duty above games like uncharted
critics usually dont watch or play the games they review but simply ask alot of people who have and make opinions based on the majority...
gosh i do hate critics.

I did love this film but you do need to see the deleted scenes,

wes cravn didnt even want to do it in 3d and they made him for the money >:I

That's why they call the critics.

There's deleted scenes? Are they awesome?

The critics made him do it in 3D?

well , i dont expect many peopel to understand it, Ive beeb a big fan of wes craven for a long time and understand how he potrays characters and the devices he usues to subtly hint and things, the deleted scenes help explain the plot a lot also, but it is one of my favourite movies. is there a reason you think like that of it?

Well,probably because I saw it on T.V. and saw the 'starred' rating first,which probably turned me off to it. Also I saw it WITH people,which may have affected it also. At the time we were focused more on the 'horror' aspect than the story-line. Which I know is a terrible thing to do. Maybe if I saw it again I would have a different opininion,but who knows.

ah well... it isnt one of those films i guess ^^;
I always watch horror for the storyline which is why i love the original survival horror games, but wes craven is only known for his storyline not his gore or shocks/jumps. he made films such as the original nightmare on elm street and all the scream films.

I saw the film online with friends and we then went and bought it and rewatched with others but we are huge horror buffs when it comes to plot devices and originality. wes cravens stuff usually dosent to well ti'll several yesars alter because he is ahead of his time as most poeple proclaim he did a series called nightmare cafe but it didnt catch on, though now a lot of fans discovering his old stuff love it. but you really do have to have the taste for that sort of thing to enjoy it a lot of people dont

Great picture, Bug looks like he's in pain or something.

Speaking of which, what is this movie about exactly? I've seen commercials for it, but I never got to see ;A;

thanks ^^

its about well, its hard to eplain exactly,
its about thsi whole town where this actizophrenic killer murdered a bunch of people , now the town has this whole myth taht the killer and the people he killed would be reborn, and the kids that star in the movie are these eledged souls, every year they have acelebration based on the night the killer dieda t all that jazz. now bug the main character is the son of this killer so everyone expects it to be him who will have the soul of the killer/the riverton ripper, and of coursev the kids start dying and no one knows who it is adults assume its some copycat while kids assume the ledgend is true and its the killer come back for vengence. really the film expects the viewer to undwerstanbd a lot of its symbolism, i got it easy because a lot of it is scitzophrenia and birds two things ive looked in to a bit , but i think it didnt do well because like all wes craven movies they are a head of thier time XD

Wow! So detailed!
You are definately getting better at expressions and your wings.... My god your wings..
I think that was a book as well....? Correct me if I'm wrong ;)
I love the writing. The only thing I'd critic is his finger. One of them is slightly... Fatter, shall we say? But hey, I am absolutely terrible at drawing hands, so I'm not complaining :)

I dont think so? though there could be a book with the same title, unless one was brought out after the film- which i doubt because it didnt do well...which sucks because i loved it.

and yeah i can see it :/ happens everytime i use my own hands as reference , something goes wrong D: I have wierd hands , bleh ive got a long way to go

Hmm... There was definately a book with the same name, though from the sound of things I actually thing it's a different story, yes.

Sounds like a good film, I might actually have a look around.
And I understand... Hands are so hard to draw, especially since I'm so accustomed to drawing paws and occasionally talons.
But hey, your art is great! Just keep trying and you'll be perfect!

I have something to ask though.. Well, sometime maybe last year, I think, I payed for a commision on you old channel (Reaperneko)and the commision still hasn't appeared. It was a paint picture with my fursona Luna (cat). I hate to be annoying but.. I payed for it and... Please reply...

The detail on the wings is magnificent! absolutely gorges, I don't think it can get any better. The only issue with that is, they look almost too good for the picture. Bug, though still well drawn, does not look like he belongs in the picture. Like he was photoshoped in, or like he is standing in a spot light, and the wings are in the far background. next time try shading him in a darker way, and put a red sheen on him, so he looks like he's a part of the same picture. But all and all, very good!

Get a picture of a skull, use that to shade the face. Shading the body is a bit more dificult, but you have to remember what parts stick out more and sade under there. Make sure to decide on a light sorce to. In this picture, gudging on the background, it's comming from the the red upper corner. Just a couple tips, thanks for reading again!

If I could make one more comment, I was wonderinh how you did the writting on thw wings? If it was an effect, then which one?

okay thank you I will try that c: trying to get into a habot of leaving lightscources till after background and flat colours or added because I just to just do it as i went and end up with 5 light sources which just looked wierd.

I used the rubber tool to draw in the letters with a normal solid brush but first i duplicated the picture and put it underneath so one ahd the words and one was the normal wing then I went on the normal wing layer and used one of the preset speckle looking brushes in photoshop to remove bits and let the words show through- I dunno if that made any sense , Im no good at explaining ^^;

cool :D btw....humans are hard creatures to draw, but they are similiar anatomy structure to other animals, just differently placed. xD u probably already know that. Oh hmm another thing to remember with human arms is the forearm and the upper arm are the same length. (above the elbow and below the shoulder = same length as above the wrist and below the elbow) if you draw a line from the top of your ear, itll lead straight to the middle of your eye. If you did the same thing to the bottom of your ear, it would go straight to the same height as your mouth :)

eh i know more, but im afraid i might of confused you xD basically, everything is pretty much porportional.
